The Great Ocean Road officially starts at Torquay. As from Torquay the shoreline is picturesque, there are many beaches between Torquay and Anglesea and it's a paradise for surfers especially the famous Bells Beach. The treks for bikes and hikers are all along the shore. You can sunbathe naked. But only on nudist beaches. Equip yourselves with maps and find information before you set off on a journey. Take special care of your nightspot. And remember mounting a camel is free, dismounting will cost you 30 bucks! Don't try to save much on your pleasures.

Официально Великая Океанская Дорога начинается в Торки. Уже в Торки линия берега красива, между Торки и Энглси много пляжей и рай для серфингистов, особенно известный Беллс Бич. Вдоль берега есть треки для велосипедистов и хайкеров. Можно отдыхать на пляже голым. Надо только знать "клубничные" места. Вооружитесь картами и информацией до поездки. И особенно позаботесь о ночлеге. И помните наболевшее египетское: залезть на верблюда можно бесплатно, а слезть - за 30 долларов! Желание очень сэкономить выйдет боком.

We drove quickly and reached Torquay in no time. Torquay is a nice town on Bass strait in Victoria, it's a kind of gates to the Great Ocean Road. Crossing Torquay embarks you on the drive along the famous road. We stopped in Torquay and went through the information centre to the local beach. All the beaches on the coastline are surf beaches, vast and diverse.

Ехали очень быстро и быстро доехали. До Торки. Торки - это ... милый городок в Виктории в заливе Басс, так сказать, ворота Великой Океанской Дороги. То есть пересекаешь Торки, и выезжаешь на ту самую дорогу. Мы в Торки остановились и через Информационный центр пошли к пляжу. Все пляжи на этом побережье называются серфинговыми. Просторные и такие разные.

We spotted surfers on all beaches along the coast.

We headed towards the Spring Creek, but omitted the Reserve. Instead we crossed the bridge and kept on walking along the coastline.

Мы направились в сторону Весенней Бухты. Но в Заповедник не пошли. А пересекли мостик и продолжили прогулку вдоль берега.

There is a limestone Danger Point somewhere on the photo hereunder. I double checked the maps searching for this Point but all in vain. Cant tell you exactly which photo shows it.

Here is Jan Juc Surf beach. Its name is a bit French.

Sunset at Jan Juc Surf beach. It got colder, winter reminded of itself. It was even colder at night. I don't want to load you with negative impressions which I got from the camping place and it's not worth attention at all. Once I know the name, I will write it in here to remember where not to go.

И заход солнца. Сильно похолодало, зима напомнила о себе. Ночью был не холод, ночью был дубак. Насчет кемпинга не хочу жевать негативные впечатления и привлекать внимание, которого он не стоит. Узнаю название и здесь напишу куда я бы ни за что не поехала.

In winter we have almost summer days in Victoria. The next day was even warmer and sunnier than the previous one. We left the camping and headed to the Anglesea beach which is in front of the Anglesea Beachfront Family caravan park. It was nice to relax in the sun after the chilling night we had. I was covered by a wave all of a sudden. I didn't have time to escape. My boots got drained. It was a nice feeling although, it felt like the wave embraced my feet in sympathy.

Но зимой в Виктории бывают летние проблески. Следующий день был еще теплее и солнечнее. Оставив кемпинг мы пришли на пляж Энглси. После бессонной холодной ночи было приятно расслабится на солнышке. Хотя, меня здесь окатило волной. Ну и чертсним. Намокли только сапоги. Зато было ощущение, что вода обняла мои ноги.

Surfers were more professional on this beach and the waves were bigger.

I enjoyed walking along this trek very much. This is a lovely countryside trail with bushes and field flowers on each side, bikers honking you when approaching from behind and the sound of waves on the ocean side. It's called the Coastal Heathlands.

Эта прогулка мне очень понравилась. Длинный трек вдоль побережья. Такая приятная сельская дорожка с кустами и клевером по сторонам, велосипедистами и шумом морских волн.

We climbed over the fence although the note says "unstable cliffs", but getting on the other side was worth it. The strait views are spectacular. The cliffs are indeed unstable, so many cracks and holes they have. On the last three pics you can see Point Addis in the distance.

Мы пролезли через ограду, хотя надпись рядом гласит "неустойчивые холмы", и не пожалели. Виды на залив замечательные. Хотя холмы таки неустойчивые. На последних трех фото - виден мыс Эддис.

We didn't go to the very end of the trek. Despite the beauty of the nature, the scenes are quite monotonous. We turned back and on our way back I made a shot of Anglesea from the landside.

До конца трека мы не стали идти, так как несмотря на всю прелесть природы, виды довольно однообразные. На пути обратно я сфотографировала вид на Энглси со стороны суши.

We drove up to the Southside Beach. There is a nude section which was opened in 1986. Everyone is welcome, you don't have to be naked. You can stare at others, but you must not take pictures of them. These are the rules.

На машине мы подъехали до пляжа Южная Сторона, протяженность которого киллометр. Здесь же секция для нудистов, открыта в 1986 году. Все могут зайти, необязательно раздеваться, глазеть можно, фотографировать нельзя. Таковы правила.

Southside Bells Beach turned out to be familiar to me as I used to visit it in 2002, when I arrived to Australia. You can sunbathe here only, the waves are too big for swimming.

Этот пляж Южная Сторона Беллс оказался мне знакомым по далекому 2002, когда я только в Австралию приехала. Здесь можно только загорать, в том смысле, что волны для вальяжного плавания весьма опасные.

I wanted to be on the photo with the waves behind. I managed it. Unexpectedly the wave covered me from toe to waist and my leggings got wet. With this said, I had a pleasant feeling of being treated as a waves old friend. But it's good that waves only played with me rather than invited to live together.

Хотелось мне на фоне волны сфотографироваться. Мне это удалось. Но волна окатила почти по пояс, леггинсы стали мокрые. Но опять же осталось приятное ощущение, как будто волны играют с тобой как со старой знакомой. Спасибо, что только играют, а не приглашают к себе жить.

This is the most famous surf Central Bells beach. There are so many surfers on it even at this time of the year, it looks like they are showcasing on the waves, they don't pay attention at the visitors on a lookout above, even if the latter applaud loudly. I couldn't resist making plentiful photos of waves and brave surfers conquering the peak waves. Poetry in sports.

А вот это уже самый знаменитый пляж серфингистов - Беллс. Серфингистов здесь много даже в это время года и устраивают они целые представления на волнах, впрочем серфингисты на визитеров на площадке внимания не обращают, даже если те громко апплодируют. Фото внизу - не могла удержаться, я щелкала и щелкала волны и смелых людей на досках, покоряющих волны. Поэзия в спорте.

I took a photo of a loop road to Anglesea. These scenic loop roads are all along the shoreline.

And here is the Torquay surf beach. Long and vast. Imagine how good this place is in summer!

А это уже пляж Торки. Тоже серфинговый, будте уверены. Просторный и протяженный. Представляю как здесь летом хорошо.

Sundial named The Torquay Dial. Amazing artwork by local artists and "represents a number of traditional dreaming stories of the Wathaurong aboriginal people, including Mindii, the ever watchful Snake and Bunjil, the Eagle, Creator and Overseer. The analemma is the eagle's body." The traditional Australian animals are on clock dial, the clock hands are represented by the eagle body. It is a fun to check what time of day it is by sundial but it is possible on a sunny day, of course. The sundial is at the Fisherman's beach. By the way, we saw a fisherman on the quayside selling a fresh caught shark.

Просто восхитительная работа местных художников. Солнечные часы, которые изображают несколько аборигеновских персонажей, среди которых традиционнная Миндии, то есть Змея, которая всегда наготове, и Банжил, то есть Орел-Создатель и -Покровитель. Внутри циферблата традиционные австралийские зверюшки, стрелки представлены как тело орла. В солнечную погоду легко определяется время, встаньте в центр циферблата и увидите приблизительно который час. Солнечные часы расположены у пляжа Рыбаков. Кстати, недалеко на набережной мы видели продавалась акула только что выловленная.
